Fellows Nomination Committee

Fellows Nomination Committee

ASA Fellowship

The American Statistical Association recognizes outstanding contributions to the statistics profession with the honorary title of an ASA Fellow.  Dozens of the Biopharmaceutical Section’s members have been elected ASA Fellows.  The list of the Section’s fellows since 1967 can be found on the Award page.

Each year ASA Fellows are selected by the ASA Committee on Fellows.  The election results are announced in late April or early May, and the Section’s newly elected ASA Fellows are honored at the business meeting held on Tuesday night at JSM.

Fellows Nomination Committee

The Fellows Nomination Committee consists of ASA Fellows who are experienced with the nomination process, including those who have served on the ASA Committee on Fellows.  Although the Committee does not directly nominate Section members, it provides support and general guidance by reviewing and editing nomination packages, helping identify authors of supporting letters or writing supporting letters.

The Committee’s current chair is Bruce Binkowitz. Please reach out to Bruce for any questions about the nomination process.

Effective October 1, 2020, an anonymous working panel of dossier reviewers has been formed. The reviewers serving on the panel are experienced statisticians including former and present members of the ASA Committee on Fellows. Nominators from BIOP are encouraged to send completed dossiers for review to a current chair of the BIOP Fellows Committee (Brenda J Crowe). The chair will send it to one of the available reviewers and provide feedback regarding potential gaps and improvements within approximately two weeks. Please submit for review well in advance of the ASA submission deadline in order to receive feedback in time to make adjustments to the dossier.
