JSM 2019's successful event featuring ASA Past-President Sally Morton was featured in Amstat News and the 2020 event (blog) featured ASA President Rob Santos along with Dr. Emma Benn (Mount Sinai) and Dr. Karen Price (Eli Lily) and included focus on Virtual Interviewing and Remote Working.  The Virtual 2021 event with Jeri Mulrow, Patricia (Pat) Hu, and Xiao-Ming Meng "Promoting Your Networking Potential" was also a big success.

The students and early career professionals expressed their thanks and feedback:

  • I wanted to express my appreciation for the Career Development Networking Event. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet other statisticians and learn tips on how to navigate this online work/meeting/conference environment."
  • That was really helpful and interesting."
  • "Thanks again for creating such a wonderful experience."
  • "Thanks for hosting such a great networking event!"

We appreciate 2019 and 2020's volunteers and look forward to this year's volunteer mentors meeting a new batch of ASA's young professionals!

Volunteer Role: Be "networking mentors" for students and early career professionals to practice the tips and tricks the main host teaches the students. The more volunteers the better, so students and early career professionals have several people to practice with as they "rotate" through the crowd. We will send a follow-up email early July to provide more specifics for the event.  Sign Up Link
