With the goal of helping students and early-career statisticians, the ASA Committee on Career Development (ASA CCD) and ASA Gives Back 2020 will be hosting a Virtual Guided Networking Session at this year's Virtual JSM. This networking social provides an opportunity for students and early career statisticians to practice meeting and greeting in a friendly environment. We are seeking mid to late career professionals from all areas (academia, industry, and government) as volunteers to attend the 1.5 hour session, providing students and early career statisticians opportunities to practice virtual networking. This year's event features ASA President-Elect Rob Santos along with Dr. Emma Benn (Mount Sinai) and Dr. Karen Price (Eli Lily) and includes focus on Virtual Interviewing and Remote Working.
Volunteer Role: Be "dummies" for students and early career professionals to practice the tips and tricks the main host teaches the students. The more volunteers the better, so students and early career professionals have several people to practice with as they "rotate" through the crowd. We will send a follow-up email early July to provide more specifics for the event.

The ASA Committee on Career Development JSM 2019 Guided Networking Session was a big success! (See the CCD Blog!) ASA CCD is hosting another guided networking social for students and early career statisticians to practice in a friendly environment at JSM 2020. Featuring Robert Santos, ASA President-Elect and "pro networker", we will discuss various topics such as introducing yourself confidently followed by practice time. During the practice sessions, students and early career professionals will be encouraged to "rotate" to meet and practice with new people - volunteers from industry, government, and academia.
