Seizing Opportunity in the Big Data Boom

Noon - 1:30 PM
The East Bank Club
500 N. Kingsbury, Chicago 60610

Abstract:

As Big Data continues to pour into the collective conscience of everyone from CEOs to everyday consumers, analytics is transforming the way we work, think and live. The face of the job market is changing to meet the demand for quantitative professionals to interpret everything from machine data to consumer data to sports statistics. Companies are scrambling to figure out (as quickly as possible) who are these data wizards? What do they do? How do we recruit them? What does all of this mean for you as potential candidates? It means that if you play your cards right you have more options than ever before, since the skilled quantitative labor force is nowhere close to the sizeable demand. The more information you have about the salaries, demographics and skills in your profession the better you will be able to plan, negotiate and navigate through your career lifetime. p> Speaker biography:

Linda Burtch has over 30 years experience recruiting quantitative professionals. She founded Burtch Works as an executive recruiting firm that specializes in placing highly qualified quantitative professionals. She enjoys working closely with candidates and clients, maintaining relationships as the landscape continues to evolve for both quantitative professionals and the companies that rely on their talents and insights. Linda also enjoys working with the Burtch Works team to constantly research more about the professionals she works with, believing that this information can help candidates and clients maneuver through the current market and plan for what lies ahead. Earlier this year Burtch Works released The Burtch Works Study, a comprehensive and benchmark study on the demographics and salary information for Big Data professionals.
