Pro Bono Statistics:
What Can Statisticians Do in the Community?

Noon - 1:00 PM
Costa’s Restaurant
340 S Halsted, Chicago 60661

Please join us for the Chicago Chapter’s Tuesday Luncheon program.

Pro bono statistics is volunteer service that utilizes statistical expertise. We see a place for pro bono statistics at any level of experience. There are currently some volunteer efforts within the American Statistical Association (ASA). Meanwhile, Statistics in the Community (STATCOM) at Purdue University has developed a successful model for student-driven volunteerism programs, which is now being applied at other colleges and universities. Our goals are to introduce the concept of pro bono statistics and discuss its benefits to communities and the professional organizations that engage in such activities. ASA Chapters can play an important role by participating in pro bono statistics and by supporting local student-driven efforts.

This is joint work with Alexander E. Lipka and Nilupa S. Gunaratna.

Registration will begin at 11:45 A.M. with lunch from Noon until 1:00 P.M.

Cost will be $30 for members and $35 for non- members. Nonmembers, join the chapter for a year for only $15 and get the discount plus all the benefits of membership! Visa and Mastercard accepted.
