1:00PM-2:00PM—Keynote Speaker on Choosing a Career in Statistics, Professor Albert Madansky will

be speaking on his career as a statistician. Professor Madansky is uniquely qualified to speak on

careers in statistics as he has had a distinguished career in both academics as well as in the private

sector. Professor Madansky has applied statistics in a variety of ‘real world’ settings, including

marketing, finance, information processing, litigation support, public sector consulting,

pharmaceutical research and engineering. His 1988 book, “Prescriptions for Working Statisticians”

remains a classic reference for statisticians who do consulting and collaborative work. Professor

Madansky is a former President of the Chicago Chapter of the ASA and is a Professor Emeritus and

has served as Deputy Dean at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. He is

currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Business.
