Planned Activities:

8:00 AM- 9:00AM - Registration

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM – Keynote Speaker

Professor Albert Madansky, who enthralled the crowd at the last Career Forum, will be speaking on his career as a statistician. Professor Madansky is uniquely qualified to speak on careers in statistics as he has had a distinguished career in both academics, as well as, in the private sector. Professor Madansky has applied statistics in a variety of ‘real world’ settings, including marketing, finance, information processing, litigation support, public sector consulting, pharmaceutical research and engineering. His 1988 book, “Prescriptions for Working Statisticians” remains a classic reference for statisticians who do consulting and collaborative work. Professor Madansky is a former President of the Chicago Chapter of the ASA and is a Professor Emeritus and has served as Deputy Dean at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. He is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Business.

In the following breakout sessions, speakers talk about their own path in statistics, how they chose their field and why, what steps they took to be successful and what they do day to day, followed by Q&A.
