  • Application for SRMS Student Travel Awards to attend the Joint Statistical Meetings 2022 is now available. Typically, awards up to $825 are given to cover travel expenses to JSM plus the required membership in ASA. Applications must be received by 11:59 PM EST, Monday, December 20, 2021.
  • The Survey Research Methods, Government Statistics, and Social Statistics Sections are pleased to announce a competition for student and post-graduate papersCompetition winners will present their papers at a topic-contributed session during the Joint Statistical Meetings 2022. A subsidy of up to $1,000 will be provided to each winner and five awards will be granted. Applications must be received by 11:59 PM EST, December 15, 2021.
  • The Gertrude M. Cox Award Committee is seeking nominees for the 2022 Gertrude M Cox Award. Please email your nominations to Marcus Berzofsky ( by 28 February, 2022.
  • The Waksberg Award Committee is seeking nominees for the 2024 Waksberg Award. Please email your nomination to Maria Giovanna Ranalli ( by 15 February, 2023. 
  • The portal for submitting invited session proposals for JSM 2023 will be open through Thursday, September 8, 2022 (11:59 p.m. Eastern, 8:59 p.m. Pacific). Detailed information for submitting an invited session proposal is provided here.
  • SRMS members can now access all the 2011-2020 AAPOR webinars for free. To access these past webinars, please email Brady West ( for the username and password to login to AAPOR’s website.
  • 2021 proceedings of the Joint Statistical Meetings for the Survey Research Methods Section are now available from the SRMS proceedings page. The following papers are included in the online proceedings of the Survey Research Methods Section:    

    • Papers presented at the Joint Statistical Meetings that are sponsored by the Survey Research Methods Section
    • Papers presented at the AAPOR annual conference

To become a member of the SRMS, you must be a member of the ASA. When applying for the ASA membership, select “Survey Research Methods” from the “Choose Your Section(s)” list. If you are already a member of the ASA or renewing your ASA membership, then login to your member’s only page and click the “Add Additional Chapter or Section” button.
