Do you teach and consult in an academic health center? Do you collaborate with and teach medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy, veterinary and/or public health researchers? I am looking for speakers for a session for JSM 2013 in Montreal tentatively titled: "The Interplay Between Consulting and Teaching". Some of the questions I am interested in addressing with this session are:
In what ways does your consulting or collaborative work inform your teaching? In what ways does your teaching inform your consulting work? What are the benefits of occupying both roles? What is the value to your organization of having people with this dual role? What are the challenges in balancing the two roles? Do the two roles ever conflict? What gaps do you see, as a consultant, between what your clients know about statistics and what they need to know? What gaps do you see, as a teacher, between what your fellow consultants know about consulting and what they need to know? Are there unmet needs?
If you would be interesting in sharing your ideas and experiences in this area at JSM 2013 in Montreal, please email me at brea0022@umn.edu.
Thanks!
Ann
