Hope you had a good time in San Diego if you went to the tremendous JSM this year.

This is Nan Hu, the section prgram chair for the coming year. As you probably know, the 2013 JSM program committe is soliciting proposal and ideas for invited sessions at JSM next year in Montreal, Canada. Our section will have 3 allocated invited sessions and also have chance to participate the ASA sections competition for 19 additional invited sessions at JSM 2013 (each section can submit up to two session proposals for competition).

The theme of the 2013 JSM is "Celebrating the International Year of Statistics," a secondary theme is "Big Data". Formats may vary for invited sessions, but all are 110 minutes in length and have a session chair. The sessions in previous years typically included two - six participants, including the chair, with two of the most popular and successful formats being two-three speakers with a discussant or a panel discussion of three - five panelists.
