    Hi there -

I too was conflicted about this group.  Intriguing discussions for the most part, but clogging and distracting at times in my Inbox.  Some discussant months ago gave me the tip that has worked very well for me.  On the ASA community website (http://community.amstat.org/Home/), after logging in, go to the 'My Community Subscriptions' which is located under the 'My Profile' tab. And then simply click the 'Daily Digest' option, as opposed to the 'Real Time' option.  Each morning the previous day's discussions are all listed in one consolidated e-mail for my perusal when the time is right for me.  Very useful for a lurker, rather than an active participant, like myself.

    Best regards to all.

Great tip, David. And we can select different options for different eGroups. In some I lurk, in some I lead.

This suggestion was mentioned before on my thread about email etiquette.  It also was mentioned yesterday on a thread I started about teaching biostatistics to physicians and researchers that was cross posted to the statistical consulting section.  That thread was rather lengthy with a lot of posts and it eventually degenerated into arguments about clogging inboxes.  There too this suggestion was mentioned.  It sounds to me to be very simple to do and puts the burden on the individual who does not want the posts rather than on those posting.  I would add that I got a couple of harsh private emails regarding my stand on this.

Let's make all the eGroups aware of this and be done with the complaining.
