    Dear Colleagues,

As outgoing JSM 2016 Program Chair for our ASA Section on Statistical Consulting, I would like to thank
all of the members of our section who contributed to the success of the JSM 2016 conference program as
instructors, presenters, chairs, organizers, award judges or participants.

Your efforts to represent our section in the best way possible are valued and appreciated and
they will hopefully inspire other members of the section to showcase their talents at JSM 2017 in Baltimore.

On behalf of our Section and its Executive Committee, I would also like to extend warm congratulations to
the JSM 2016 Section on Statistical Consulting award recipients, who are listed below.

    1) Nikola Andric of Deloitte Consulting LLP received the Topic Contributed Session Travel Award for
organizing the session "Ethics in Data Science for Statistical Consultants".
Nikola will be the recipient of $750 and a certificate recognizing his achievement.

    2) Katherine Monti from Rho, Inc. received the Best Contributed Presentation Award for her
presentation "When Is 'Wrong' Really Right and Other Consulting Adventures".
Katherine will be the recipient of $500 and a certificate recognizing her achievement.

    3) Maxwell Luetkemeier from Loyola University Chicago received The Best Poster Award
for the poster, "Accurately Placing Landmarks on the Occlusal Surface of Fossil Bovid Teeth:
Expert Intelligence vs. Artificial Intelligence". Maxwell will be the recipient of
$250 and a certificate recognizing his achievement.

These award recipients were chosen by a panel of judges from the section’s Executive Committee,
and were judged on the basis of criteria such as choice of topic and its relevance to
members of our section, potential of the presentation material to influence one's consulting/statistical
practice, quality of delivery, elegance and effectiveness of visual materials
and level of engagement with the audience.

If you would like to contribute to the JSM 2017 program, you can get in touch with
Harry Dean Johnson (dean_johnson@wsu.edu), who is the incoming JSM 2017 Program Chair.

Please also keep an eye on the key dates for the JSM 2017 conference at

    Best regards,

    Isabella
