The Department of Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for the
position of Director of the Statistical Consulting Service (SCS). The Director may also be appointed as an Associated Faculty
Member (non tenure-track) holding a faculty title and rank. The starting date for the Director is flexible. We seek a dynamic
individual who is committed to a blend of internal scientific collaboration and external consulting as well as the educational
mission of the SCS.
The primary duties of the Director are the following:
- Manage the scientific collaborations of the SCS with internal and external clients
- Conduct meetings with new clients to identify the problems to be solved and methods to solve them
- Set the time schedules and fees for contracted work
- Supervise SCS staff, which currently consists of a senior statistician, a business manager, and 3-5 senior graduate
students
- Actively engage clients to make the SCS a cost-efficient and revenue generating operation
- Help design and participate in the educational mission of the SCS
- Teach statistical consulting courses (optional)
