I have read with interest the discussion about professional insurance.
Since my consulting has essentially been with academics, I have not felt
the need for it. With my practice broadening, I now see the need.

    I could use some information.
    1) From whom have statisticians purchased such insurance? I remember
someone getting theirs from the Chemical Society. I have not heard of
    an option through the ASA.
    2) What kind of prices should one expect?
    3) Any other things I should consider?

    Thanks, Uwe Koehn

I use The Hartford for professional Statistician insurance and for Workers Comp. You are looking at about $1800/year per both policies depending on the state you reside in.

I use Hiscox (www.hiscox.com), in Chesapeake, VA. I pay about $130 a month, and I have $2,000,000 personal liability, and $2,000,000 professional liability. That's for my LLC.

Does the professional liability insurance mentioned cover employees and support staff?  In particular, does it cover programmers/coders employed by your company and does it cover other Ph.D. consultants that you hire as subcontractors because of specialized experience/skills?

By the way, earlier in this string, somebody said that ASA offers professional liability insurance, but I have not found this on the website.

I am a one-person LLC. I believe that if I started picking up employees then the rates would go up, but I've never asked and cannot say for sure.

The ASA offered insurance can be found by going to the Members only section of the website -> Partner Discounts and Special Offers -> bottom of the page is a link to ASA sponsored insurance, Traveler's offers the business insurance

I plan to get a quote from them and at least one other when I am ready to purchase.

I looked at the ASA site.  They do not offer the general liability and workers compensation insurance that consultants are asked for when working on-site at a corporate office.
