Have you consider preparing a tableplot ?  While  I have not personally impemented this technique in any of my projects, the purpose is to display the aggregated distribution patterns of a dozen of  variables in one single gure.  Tableplots display both the numeric and CATEGORICAL aspects of an entire data set.    As a Big Data fan - this is useful when discussing data sets that are otherwise too large to visualize  --  and may expose collection data errors and outliers.

JMP software community is full of visualization suggestions - to be implemented by those with their software package - AND also with great research papers for all of us to learn from. http://www.jmp.com/en_us/home.html
