Dear Members of the Section on Statistical Consulting,

The University of Georgia Department of Statistics is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of the Statistical Consulting Center, starting January 2016.

The primary duties are management and promotion of the UGA Statistical Consulting Center, including: hiring, training and supervision of graduate student consultants; provision of statistical advice and reports for SCC clients, both on-campus and off-campus; participation in grant and contract proposal writing as required by clients; oversight of daily operations; maintaining adequate records; visiting potential UGA clients to promote the activities of the SCC; and regularly reporting on SCC activities. The selected candidate will be encouraged to take advantage of professional development opportunities within and outside of UGA, and to collaborate with the Director of the SCC to help meet and expand the missions of the SCC, including participation in national conferences and participating in the exchange of ideas with other established statistical consulting centers. An additional related duty is the teaching of a graduate course in Statistical Collaboration once per academic year.

I wanted to run this ad here a second and final time; the soft deadline for applications has technically passed, but we are hoping to expand our applicant pool. If you are interested in this non-tenure track position at the University of Georgia, please consider applying (or if you know anyone who may be qualified, please pass this information on to him or her). I am leaving the UGA Statistical Consulting Center after 5+ years, and while there I gained excellent consulting and education skills while having the opportunity to lead, create initiatives, and take ownership in this center. Benefits are generous, and the SCC has regularly provided funding for me to travel to up to two conferences each year in order to interact with the consulting community. Additionally, we have a very motivated and enthusiastic group of graduate students in the center who are very invested in the work they do, and whom I will sincerely miss.

Note that while not part of the official promotional track, the right individual may have the opportunity to become co-director of the center.
