  • 1.  3rd party randomization options

    Posted 08-31-2015 12:24

    Hello,

I'm involved in an intervention study in the social sciences that is necessitating a third party to handle randomizations. Might anybody know of a company or some options for this sort of thing? You can respond directly if easier, to mhayat@gsu.edu. Thanks,

    Matt

You can try to use http://random.org which makes up truly random variables out of atmospheric noise. Of course if you need some sort of constrained randomization or adaptive designs, you will have to jump through some algorithmic hoops after having downloaded their numbers.

Do you mean a 3rd party only to generate the randomization?

In Pharma, CRO's generate the randomization and may also implement the drug packaging and shipment  to a study site based on the randomization.

Thanks, Chris. The challenge here is with case workers in the field. We need a platform so they can call in to receive their assignments without collecting identifying information.

Pharmaceutical CRO's  would have a web and/or phone randomization system, in the jargon "IVRS" (interactive voice response) .

Is the goal to randomize the case workers? Or is the goal to have the case workers randomize the people they're talking to out in the field?

If the goal is to have the case workers randomize the people they are talking to, then my next question would be, are they talking to individuals one-on-one? or are they talking to groups?

Excuse me, I may have asked my question clumsily. What I meant to ask was, is the goal to have the case workers deliver randomization assignments to the people they're talking to out in the field?
