We may be undertaking a project that will be very computationally intensive. I would like to know whether SAS in the Cloud is a viable option. Does anyone have experience using this? Is it relatively straightforward to implement for a PC SAS user? Some idea of the cost structure would be very useful as well, although I'm sure it is project-dependent. How about customer support? Thanks for any help.

    Herbert,

I cannot comment on SAS in the Cloud. But I do know that many researchers are using R in the cloud, especially for compute-intensive or Big Data projects. Mass deployment of R is feasible because it has no licensing fee. Spinning up R on one, dozens, or hundreds of servers is normal for those projects. Google for "R in the cloud". Or, in particular, I can recommend Revolution Analytics: http://www.revolutionanalytics.com/revolution-r-cloud
