I am so sorry for the flurry of emails and phone calls trying to locate me, including a posting to this Statistical Consulting message board. Like Mark Twain, I am still alive and I will be teaching a course, How to Start and Run an Independent Statistical Consulting Business, at CSP next month in New Orleans. I was working hard on the course actually, and was unaware that my failure to do things like register for the conference would be a problem. Silly me. For those people who went into panic mode, please accept my apologies.

I don't want to waste a lot of bandwidth telling you this, but rather I wanted first to thank all the people on this message board who have written thoughtful and detailed responses to various questions about the consulting business. I've borrowed more heavily from all of you as I have from my own experiences as a consultant. This message board is a great resource.

Second, I wanted to offer a draft of my handout to anyone who would be willing to look at it and offer suggestions. I'm interested in feedback both from experienced consultants and from those who may just be thinking about starting a career as an independent statistical consultant. I am particularly interested in having people look at the sections on contracts and on insurance, as these are a bit thin. But comments on anything would be greatly appreciated. Send me an email to mail@pmean.com and I will send you a PDF file of my PowerPoint slides and ten consulting scenarios that I will use for small group exercises.

As a very experienced, but still learning independent consultant I too would be happy to review your material.
