I'm sharing this at the request of our chair, Eric Vance (he is currently in Nigeria visiting the recently created LISA 2020 stat lab at Obafemi Awolowo University--you can read more about this on the LISA news blog: http://www.lisa.stat.vt.edu/LISA2020/?q=news_blog).

You may or may not be aware that the ASA maintains a directory of statistical consultants:

http://www.amstat.org/consultantdirectory/

While this is not new, we are revisiting the fact that you can add yourself to the directory. You are required to be a current ASA member and a member of the Section on Statistical Consulting to do so (this is a benefit of membership in our section). To add yourself, log in to the Members Only area of the ASA website. Place your cursor over the "My Account" tab and then select "My Consultant Profile" from the drop down menu. The next page will add you to the directory and you can customize your profile.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the directory or this process. While I may not have the answers immediately, I'll do my best to learn them!

I noted at least someone commented on the limit of 5 'Areas of Expertise' --- my thoughts are that may be good to limit it ... in that a person's strongest skill set would be emphasized ...

... that said I think that the "Statistical Software - SAS", "Statistical Software - SPSS", and "Statistical Software - Other" --- should all be MOVED to a new category of "Statistical Software and other Skills" --- and add a view new ones, for example:

SAS
SPSS
R and/or S+
STATA
SYSTAT
MATLAB
etc.

... then allow consultants to choose up to 3 of these!

Thank you for the information. I think this is a great service.

My concern is: how would a client be aware of such information? Is it easily accessible from ASA home page?

Most visitors will just go to member directory (although for members only), I guess.
