The Department of Biostatistics at Southern Medical University (SMU) is pleased to invite applications for the faculty position at the rank of Full Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2015. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics or related field. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to pursue an active line of research and teaching in statistical theory and application. Evidence of excellence in independent and collaborative research in Statistics or in promoting and enhancing diversity is highly desired.
As the first Department of Biostatistics in China, Department of Biostatistics of SMU has 13 faculty members. We offer B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biostatistics, and we also developed a M.S. program in Biostatistics with George Town University in 2014. We are a relatively young faculty with a lot of enthusiasm for working on collaborative research problems in diverse areas, and we are committed to educating current and future generations of statisticians, data analysts and data consumers. We maintain strong collaborative research ties with the Medical Associations, the Pharmaceutical Companies, the Environmental Health Science Center, and the Center for Genomic Research.
