The Quantitative Sciences Unit in the Department of Medicine's Center for Biomedical Informatics Research at Stanford University seeks a Biostatistician to join the Department as Assistant or Associate Professor in the Non -Tenure Research Line. Applicants should have a PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field, and an outstanding record doing collaborative biostatistics, with an emphasis in applications that may include oncology, cardiovascular medicine, neurosurgery, preventive medicine and public health, to name a few. Areas of methodological expertise may include statistical genetics, genomics, epidemiology, prediction modeling, survival analysis, trial design, causal inference, bioinformatics and clinical informatics.
Criteria for the position include demonstrated ability to obtain peer reviewed research funding or the potential to secure such funding, excellence in collaborative biostatistics, teaching, and mentoring appropriate to the programmatic needs of the QSU.
The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.
Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
We expect the successful candidate to develop an externally funded independent research agenda in methods development. We also expect the candidate to serve as senior statistician on a variety of observational and/or experimental studies, which involves mentoring junior statisticians as well as clinical investigators in research methods. The candidate is expected to identify and resolve methodological issues that arise in collaborative research, as a major expectation is to identify areas of methodological research in which to engage that will benefit the candidate's collaborative research.
