Great questions! One does not have to attend the JSM, but it is convenient.
Part of the Committee on Applied Statisticians' effort, funded by ASA, is to pilot a clearinghouse for the various ASA mentoring efforts. The Biopharm mentoring effort is piloting and extending resources developed by our Committee. So, if you are a Biopharm member, by all means, use their mentoring effort: we are thrilled that they are doing it. If that doesn't fit you, the Committee on Minorities is continuing their annual diversity mentoring effort, and there will be another CSP mentoring activity in 2015. If none of those are suitable, contact the Committee on Applied Statisticians: we'll match you with a mentor/mentee!

Also, does Biopharma section has a separate program or it's all one single program?
Thanks,
Nik

Just a note that the ASA Committee on Applied Statisticians is doing its mentoring program again this year.
Links to this program and a clearinghouse of ASA mentoring programs (including the new Biopharm Section program!) are at http://community.amstat.org/CAS/mentoring1 .
If you could be a mentor of an applied statistician over the next year, or if you would like to be a mentee, please follow the instructions at: http://community.amstat.org/CAS/Mentoring1/WelcomePacket/Jointheprogram Please apply by July 15 in order to be matched by the 2014 JSM.
