  • 1.  Roundtable abstract submission opening soon

Dear members of the Statistical Consulting Section,

Abstract submissions for roundtables for the 2014 Joint Statistical Meetings will be opening on December 3rd, and will remain open until February 3rd (the Contributed Abstract submission period). The Statistical Consulting Section is hoping to sponsor several roundtables at the 2014 JSM, and will welcome your submissions.

Roundtables consist of a single speaker/discussion leader, who would be sponsored by our section (would not pay additional registration), and up to 9 interested participants may register to join the speaker. Roundtables can take place in the AM or PM, and include breakfast or lunch, respectively. Roundtables are designed to be less formal than most other types of JSM sessions, and are a wonderful forum for discussion with colleagues.

If you have never attended a roundtable session before, I would suggest that you consider attending one or even proposing one in 2014. The cost for attendees is relatively low (it is only the cost of food), and the opportunity for dialogue about a topic of mutual interest to those in the group is quite valuable.

If you are considering proposing a roundtable for sponsorship by CNSL in 2014, have questions about roundtables, or want to suggest a roundtable you would find interesting, I would encourage you to contact me (krlove@uga.edu). I will post to the community again as a reminder once abstract submission opens.

    Thank you,

    Kim

Dear Members of the Statistical Consulting Section,

As I mentioned in the previous notice, abstract submission for roundtables (as well as contributed sessions and panels) is open as of today, December 3rd, and will remain open until February 3rd. Please visit http://www.amstat.org/meetings/jsm/2014/abstracts.cfm to submit abstracts and to learn more about the process.

Roundtables are not only a great opportunity for open discussion with colleagues, but can also provide a jumping-off point for organizing session proposals for future JSMs.

If you are considering proposing a roundtable for sponsorship by CNSL in 2014, have questions about roundtables, or want to suggest a roundtable you would find interesting, I would encourage you to contact me (krlove@uga.edu).

    Thank you,

    Kim
