Do you have a dataset that you find particularly effective in teaching statistics? Are you willing to write it up and share it with the community?
The "Datasets and Stories" department of the Journal of Statistics Education provides a peer-reviewed forum for exchanging interesting datasets and discussing ways they can be used effectively in teaching statistics. I'm writing to encourage submissions, particularly those which are larger and more complex and can help to engage students and instructors to engage in topics of data science and precursors of big data.
The Journal of Statistics Education, edited by Michelle Everson of the University of Minnesota, is an open access International Journal on the Teaching and Learning of Statistics which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. It is published by the American Statistical Association.
More information about Datasets and Stories can be found at:http://www.amstat.org/publications/jse/jse_data_contributor_info.htm, or please email me at
nhorton@amherst.edu. Volunteers interested in reviewing submissions are also welcomed.
Best wishes for the balance of the summer,
