The methods and techniques used to randomize subjects in clinical trials have evolved as studies have become more complex and resource constrained, while technology allows more sophisticated methods.  However, not much information is available about what, when, or why methods are being used, and the challenges and obstacles in using new methods.  To answer these questions, we are asking statisticians involved in randomizing clinical trials world-wide to share their experiences via our survey, "Trends in Clinical Trial Randomization"

The survey is in English, and should take approximately 20-40 minutes, depending on how many methods you have used, and how many details you want to share with us.   Click here to take the survey, or cut and paste this web address:

We would particularly like to hear from you who:

    • Have developed, adopted or implemented new randomization algorithms
    • Used randomization systems as part of a supply management or electronic data capture system.
    • Planned, evaluated, or questioned the advantages and disadvantages of randomization methods.
Please complete the survey by May 25, or your earliest convenience  If you would like a complimentary report summarizing the survey findings, please provide a valid email address on the last page after completing the survey. All responses are confidential, and your email address will only be used for sending the summary report.

    Best regards,

    ABOUT THE SURVEY:

This survey was developed using the results of a survey of statisticians in the UK by Dr. Gladys McPhersonwhich is available at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3522058/ (McPherson et al.: Use of randomisation in clinical trials: a survey of UK practice. Trials 2012 13:198).  Text entries from this survey were summarized as multiple choice questions to simplify responding to the survey, and the analysis.

We welcome your comments and feedback about the survey, especially if you have additional experiences and insights that are not captured by the survey.

    ABOUT THE SPONSOR:

This survey is sponsored by Medidata Solutions which is solely responsible for it's content. Information collected will be summarized in a publicly available report, and will be used to guide future research and development.  All responses are confidential.
