Hello Colleagues,
I was just hired by a researcher at Ft. Bragg interested in studying coping mechanisms of work-life balance of army reserve leaders. Unfortunately, she has brought me in at the tail end of her study (data has already been collected). And so I have had no say-so in the design of her experiment. My primary job is to "answer her research questions" as she has a weak quantitative background.
She is using a modified version of the Work Life Balance Questionnaire (QLB) (
http://www.humanresources.hrvinet.com/work-life-balance-questionnaire/) modified for military personnel (see attached). Unfortunately, the researcher is lacking quantitative skills and did not even check the psychometric properties of the original or her instruments.
As part of my contract, I spell out that I will not provide the results to her research questions before first determining these psychometric properties.
Q1: Are any of you familiar with the original instrument? If so, do you know of any literature that reports on its psychometric properties?
Q2: I'm trying to determine her instrument's face validity. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 means no face validity and 10 means complete face validity), how would you rate her instrument's ability to measure work life balance of military personnel?
I look forward to any and all of your responses.
Regards,
Ray
