Hi All,
As a fellow statistician, I wanted to share something personal-and professional.
I just launched a new book called The Math Behind the Machines: AI Explained for Safer, Smarter and More Responsible Decision Making. But it's not a technical manual or for statisticians. It's for business leaders and our clients
With the rush to embrace AI, many executives have come to believe that AI is purely the domain of computer scientists and engineers. And in that process, the role of statisticians-our role-is sometimes marginalized or misunderstood. This book is my attempt to reassert the value of statistics in the age of AI. It shows decision-makers that:
- AI is built on statistical foundations-regression, probability, distributions, inference-not just code and compute.
- Statisticians are not outdated-they're essential to making AI interpretable, ethical, and robust.
- If they want to lead with AI, they need to understand how statistical thinking works and when to contact a statistical expert.
So I wrote this book in plain language, not to oversimplify, but to make the power of statistics visible and valuable again-especially to the people shaping strategy and budgets. If you've ever sat in a meeting where "AI strategy" ignored the statistical fundamentals we know are critical, this book is for that room.
Here's a link if you want to take a look:

And if it resonates, I'd love your help spreading the word. The more business leaders who understand the importance of stats, the better off AI-and the world-will be.
Thanks for always championing the statistics that matters.
Regards,
