    Title: Four Easy Pieces in Machine Learning

    Date/Time: August 4, Thursday, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EST.

    Abstract:

    This high level talk will briefly present some research I am pursuing with the goal of finding possible collaborators and helpful suggestions from the audience. 
    I will motivate the problems and discuss approaches at a level suitable for a general STEM audience.  The topics are:- Reinforcement learning with attrition- Learning, topology and formal languages- Complexity of decision making- Mean field games, reinforcement learning and teams

    Bio of the speaker:

    Dr. George Cybenko is the Dorothy and Walter Gramm Professor at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth. Cybenko has made key research contributions in machine learning, information security and computational and adversarial behavioral analysis. He has advised dozens of PhD students, included among them are the former CTO of the FBI (Wayne Chung) and the current CISO of JP Morgan (David Robinson). Cybenko was the Founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Security & Privacy, which is currently the largest professional society publication focused on security. Professor Cybenko is a Fellow of the IEEE and SIAM, has served on the Defense Science Board, the US Air Force Science Advisory Board and is presently on the US Army Cyber Institute Advisory Board. Prior to joining Dartmouth, he was Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Cybenko received his BS (University of Toronto) and PhD (Princeton) degrees in Mathematics.
