Dear Section members, 

      I'm emailing to apprise section members about important discussions at the recent meeting of the consulting section elected officers.

In addition to the elected officers, Our guests included the incoming elected officers and some additional invited guests.  Below I will give a brief summary for Section members of very important discussions that occurred at that meeting

 I hope all section members already know, the ASA Board of Directors "BOD" organized the Anti- Racism task force with the  Nova Group to evaluate ASA's  JEDI(justice equity diversity inclusion) . There was also a town hall about this initiative.

Our Statistical Consulting section members and our Section committee on diversity have been and continue to be leaders for this matter.  The current chair of that committee is Dr. Maria Emilia de Oliveira Montez Rath. Consistent with the ASA BOD's initiative, in my role as chair, and with agreement of the section officers, Dr Rath is appointed as the  contact person for the consulting section, to the ASA Board, and to the Nova group on these matters.

The elected officers reviewed the Consulting Section diversity committee recommendations for change-s in the wording of the consulting section charter consistent with the BOD's initiative. These revisions are part of an important "BIG PICTURE" .  The NOVA group, on behalf of the ASA BOD, has among its tasks, reviewing charters for every ASA section and also recommending changes to Section Charters . I will be past chair when these discussions occur in the Consulting and all other sections.   I defer to the incoming chair,  Dr. Ball and the incoming officers and the ASA BOD about the timing of those discussions. As your section chair, I am, completely ,  100% in favor of this initiative by the ASA Board and the activities of the NOVA group . Lastly,  despite retiring, given the importance of the ASA BOD initiative that I have submitted my name for election as vice chair, for the Council of Sections Governing Board(COSGB).  I plan to continue to assist the ASA board and sections with these extremely important initiatives.
