    The Biostatistics Center at the Milken Institute School of Public Health (SPH) of The George Washington University (GW-) is recruiting a 12-month open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty member. The successful candidate will develop and lead a program of sponsored research at the Biostatistics Center, and contribute to the academic programs, with an academic appointment in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (DBB) or Department of Epidemiology (DEPI) of the SPH. Academic rank and salary are competitive and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.     Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will establish an externally funded, internationally recognized, and interdisciplinary clinical research portfolio in clinical trials, epidemiological studies, or other areas of public health/biomedical research. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic mission of the Biostatistics Center and DBB/DEPI through teaching, mentoring students and staff, and service.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must have:

    -A doctorate in biostatistics, statistics, medicine, epidemiology, or related field;

    -A track record of important roles in funded collaborative clinical research resulting in peer-reviewed publications;

    -Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Applicants pending completion of the dissertation must have their doctoral degree conferred by the start date of the appointment.

    Founded in 1972 and located in proximity of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Biostatistics Center has 51 years of leadership in practice-changing clinical trials, impactful biostatistical methodology research, and the education of students and researchers. The Biostatistics Center's mission is to: provide leadership and expertise in the execution of all types of studies including clinical trials, observational studies, and diagnostic studies; to foster biostatistical science by developing and implementing innovative approaches for the design, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of clinical research studies; and to provide training and education relevant to clinical trials and other clinical research.

    With a vision to improve public health and clinical practice by conducting transformative scientific research, research studies conducted by the Biostatistics Center have been: recognized in reports to the United States President and Congress, cited in reports from the United States White House, recognized in Time Magazine's The Year in Medicine, named the #1 advance in medicine by the Harvard Health Letter, received the Society for Clinical Trials "Trial of the Year" Award, received the Norman F. Gant Award for best research in maternal medicine, recognized in Clinical Research Forum's Top Ten Awards, served as the basis for the National Diabetes Prevention Program adopted by the CDC, featured in People magazine, twice recognized in "Drazen's Dozen", and resulted in more than 65 publications in the New England Journal of Medicine.

    The Biostatistics Center has a staff of approximately 120 with more than 45 biostatisticians/epidemiologists that includes more Fellows of the Society for Clinical Trials (SCT) than any other institution. Faculty members at the Biostatistics Center provide leadership and manage $60 million annually for projects in medical areas such as diabetes, maternal fetal medicine, infectious diseases including antibiotic resistance and COVID, Alzheimer's disease and associated dementias, oncology, and cardiovascular disease.
