Hello Consulting Section members,
If you will be in Boston for the Joint Statistical Meetings this year and you would like to learn about sample size estimation and power analysis using simulation, consider signing up for my short course, which has been sponsored by the Statistical Consulting Section and the Biometrics Section.
Title: Power Struggles: Winning with Simulation-Based Sample Size Determination for Biomedical Research and Beyond
Details: https://ww3.aievolution.com/JSMAnnual2026/Events/viewEv?ev=8522
Presenter: Byran Smucker, Henry Ford Health, website
This is for you if you are a statistician, data scientist, or a data-savvy professional and your work involves planning statistically designed studies. I will assume that you have some training in statistics, statistical modeling and R coding - roughly at a Master's level. The examples I use are from areas relevant to biomedical research, but the course is relevant to anyone who is involved in statistical study planning. We will use R to demonstrate the simulations without using specialized simulation packages, and will also emphasize the kinds of practical issues that often make off-the-shelf power analyses inadequate.
Hope to see you there.
