The Consulting Section is hosting a second panel discussion in our series on Careers in Healthcare Statistics. The first panel discussion this year was focused on careers in the pharmaceutical industry. Careers in Healthcare Statistics Part II expands into other areas. We are pleased to have panelists with a variety of healthcare statistics backgrounds including: non-profit healthcare research using electronic healthcare records, academia, industry healthcare economics and outcomes research focused on oncology data, statistical consulting and research. Please join us Friday, December 2nd at 12pm Eastern Time! There will be an option to submit questions for the panelists at registration or bring questions the day-of.

PANELIST BIOGRAPHIES
Brenda McGrath, PhD is a statistician at OCHIN, a nonprofit leader in equitable health care innovation and a trusted partner to a growing national provider network. OCHIN manages the country's most comprehensive database for the study of health care and outcomes among systemically underserved patients. Brenda has been involved in a variety of research projects using EHR data. She also has been involved in implementation science research, testing innovative EHR-embedded clinical decision support tools to improve health outcomes of disadvantaged populations with social risks.
Julia N. Soulakova, PhD got her PhD in Statistics from University of Pittsburgh in 2006. She joined Department of Statistics at University of Nebraska-Lincoln as an Assistant Professor in 2006 and was promoted to tenured Associate Professor in 2012. To extend her research program in population health she joined University of Central Florida College of Medicine in 2016. Julia is a recipient of multiple NIH awards as the PI, including an R01 award from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Julia was promoted to a Full Professor (with tenure) in 2021. She conducts research in health disparities and cessation of tobacco use. Julia is an active member of the ASA's Survey Research Methods Section and Collaborative Healthcare Statistician networking group of the Statistical Consulting Section. She is a Standing Member (Grant Reviewer) of a study section of the Agency for Health Research and Quality and served as an ad-hoc reviewer on more than 15 NIH/NSF study sections.
Traci Leong has 20+ years of experience in applying statistical, epidemiological and machine learning methods to clinical trial and real-world data. In her position as Senior Biostatistician at McKesson Ontada, she provides statistical and programming support to pharmaceutical industry partners in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) with a focus on oncology data. Previously, at Emory University, she served as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, founder and lead statistician in the Pediatric Biostatistical core, and founder and lead statistician for the Research Analytic core for the Division of Hospital Medicine. Prior to joining Emory University, she was a statistician at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute with a primary responsibility of coordinating with the data management team for cooperative group clinical trials. She was also responsible for the design, analysis, and execution of those studies. Her expertise is in the area of predictive models, geospatial analyses (with application to social determinants of health), survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis and design of clinical studies.
Dr. Terrie Vasilopoulos received her PhD in Biobehavioral Health in 2009 from the Pennsylvania State University after which she completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Chicago. She is currently a Research Associate Professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida, with her primary appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and a joint appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. One of her primary roles is providing statistical collaboration and consulting support, as well as research methods education, to clinical faculty and trainees. Her research interests include examining the influence biobehavioral factors on patient health outcomes, both acutely and longitudinally, and developing risk prediction and stratification tools for use in clinical practice.
