Planning for the 2027 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) is already underway. The theme is "People Powered. Science Driven. Future Ready.”, and will be held in Chicago, Illinois, from August 8–12, 2027. Sessions connected to this theme are encouraged, but all proposals that reflect the breadth of statistics and data science are welcome.
To organize a session, start by identifying a unifying theme of broad interest, then reach out to potential participants to confirm their availability. JSM enforces a strict “one speaker, one session” rule—an individual can only present in one invited session—so it’s worth having these conversations early. Once your proposal is ready, submit it through the online system available August 19 through September 23.
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the Section's Executive Committee to ensure sessions are high-quality and broadly cover rich topic areas pertinent to Section members.
All proposals must be submitted via the online system by September 23 (11:59 p.m. EST).
Invited sessions come in various formats but are generally 110 minutes long and include a session chair and 2–6 participants. Common formats include sessions with 2–3 speakers and a discussant, or panel discussions with 3–5 panelists.
For comprehensive details on submitting an invited session proposals, please visit https://magazine.amstat.org/blog/2026/08/03/proposals-jsm-2027/. Please email meetings@amstat.org if you encounter difficulties in submission.

- Session Title
- Session Description (including focus, content, timeliness, appeal, and format)
- Session organizer's affiliation and email address
- Session chair's affiliation and email address
