  • 1.  Biostats4You: Looking for Board Members and Reviewers

    Posted 05-25-2024 19:57

The Biostats4You website (https://biostats4you.umn.edu/) is dedicated to providing carefully selected, freely available biostatistics training materials for medical and public health professionals. The resources range from blog posts to published peer-reviewed articles to videos. We currently have 45 vetted resources on twelve topics, from sample-size calculators to non-parametric methods to collection of race and ethnicity data, and we continue to develop and add additional topics and resources.

We are looking for a few more board members. The board meets monthly for an hour via Zoom to provide oversight and direction to the website, including suggesting new topics and resources and facilitating the review process. If you are interested in board service, please contact the website director, Ann Brearley, at brea0022@umn.edu.

We are also looking for reviewers, both biostatistician reviewers and clinician or trainee reviewers. We would ask you to review one or two resources per year, and each review would take only an hour or two to complete, using a short form in REDCap. We list the names of our reviewers on the site, and this service can be included in your CV. If you are interested, complete this reviewer volunteer form or click on the "Be a Site Reviewer" link on the main page of the Biostats4You website.

    Thanks!

    Ann

How exciting, Ann! Are you accepting contributors? I have a Youtube page with some videos that might be nice to share.

Thanks Elaine! If you (or anyone else on this list) have resources that you think would be appropriate for medical and public health professionals, and fit into existing already-posted topics on our site, you can let us know via the bdac@umn.edu email address given on the main page of the Biostats4You site. You can also email that address if you have suggestions about additional topics we can consider or other improvements you'd like to see. When the board decides to add a new topic, we plan to post in appropriate ASA forums to seek out appropriate (and freely available) resources on that topic, so stay tuned!

    Thanks,

    Ann
