Chapter Overview

The Boston Chapter of the American Statistical Association (BCASA) covers the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The purpose of the organization is to foster in the broadest manner statistics and its application, and to promote unity and effectiveness of effort among all groups in the area having an interest in or being concerned with statistical problems.

Our most visible activities are a newsletter distributed electronically about four times each year, and a schedule of events that take place about once each month except in the summer.

Most chapter activities are governed by a Planning Committee that includes chapter officers as well as other chapter members. We are always looking for new members to join this committee. Contact any committee member for more information.

The chapter operates according to a written constitution (most recently updated during May, 2011 to conform with ASA guidelines), and an informal set of officers' responsibilities.

The Chapter carried out a membership survey in May 2017, through which we were able to better understand our membership, their needs and priorities. Please click here to find the full survey report, noting a concise summary is presented at the conclusion of the report.
