Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) - Statistics for Development
"The region’s policy-makers and analysts depend on having access to timely and accurate demographic, economic and social indicators to support their work, and our merged Statistics and Demography Programme (SDP) aims to strengthen the capacity of national statistical systems and social and economic planning agencies to supply this data. Our ‘core business’ is to provide technical assistance and training, partly through our highly valued professional attachment programme." For more information see here
One of the initiatives of the Statistics for Development group is the Pacific Regional Information System (PRISM). "PRISM began as a project to empower SPC member states by providing them with the equipment and skills to publish statistical indicators and information on their own website. Prior to the PRISM project, most Pacific National Statistics Offices (NSOs) did not have a website and now all member states have a website that they own, manage and update independently."
