Kodiak, Alaska, August 21-22
The following was created by combining information from two emails from the meeting organizer to the Chapter membership (one dated 2/25/2000 and the other 5/8/2000)
The Alaska Chapter of the American Statistical Association (ASA) will be having its annual meeting in Kodiak. This is the first time the annual meeting has been held in Kodiak, but it's shaping out to be an interesting and exciting meeting.
The meeting will be on August 21 & 22, 200, at the Fishery Industrial Technology Center (FITC), located on Near Island, (across the bridge from Kodiak town). Accommodations have been reserved for attendees at the Kodiak Inn (Westmark), be sure to get your reservations in soon. We have only 6 single and 3 double rooms available, with any rooms not reserved by July 31 being released.
We have been fortunate to persuade Dr. Bryan Manly to be our guest lecturer this year. Dr. Manly is a Professor of Statistics at the University of Otago, New Zealand. Dr. Manly is also the editor for the Journal of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Statistics (JABES). Dr. Manly has written three books of notable reputation: "Multivariate Statistical Methods: A Primer"; "Randomization, Bootstrap and Monte Carlo Methods in Biology"; and with Dr. Lyman McDonald and Dr. Dana Thomas, "Resource Selection by Animals: Statistical design and analysis for field studies".
