Data competitions give your student chapter members the chance to work together as a team--to win! New data competitions are constantly being announced, but here are some good places to look:
- DataFests - the DataFest program challenges teams of undergrads compete to draw meaning from a complex dataset. DataFests are held at universities throughout the U.S.
- GSS Data Challenge - every year, the ASA's Computing, Government, and Graphics sections sponsor a data competition challenging professionals and students to analyze a government dataset.
- Kaggle - an active, constantly-updating community, Kaggle has run more than 200 data competitions since 2010.
- This Is Statistics - this ASA outreach initiative regularly offers data competitions. Check out the Police Data Challenge and Statsketball for past examples.
