    Hello, text analysis enthusiasts!

On behalf of the executive committee, I wanted to reach out to all of you in STA – the ASA Section on Text Analytics – to give an update and solicit your input, as we begin a new year.

    This year, our goals are:

    1. To provide opportunities for you to increase your knowledge in text analysis,

    2. To nurture the next generation of statisticians, and

    3. To organize and select exciting talks for JSM.

To accomplish these goals, potential activities include: 1) developing a curated list of recommended text analysis resources, 2) organizing a mentoring event at JSM, 3) sponsoring a poster competition, and 4) soliciting and sponsoring a JSM 2026 short course on text analysis.

Planning for JSM 2025 is well underway, and we expect a full slate of invited and contributed sessions, as well as an open business meeting. Keep an eye out for more information as August draws near.

The executive committee (see below) are considering how else we can best serve you.  We'd like to gauge your interest in the potential activities listed above or hear any other ideas you may have to accomplish the goals.  What would help you be better at text analysis?  How do you want to help others?  Please get in touch – we look forward to hearing from you.

    Best,
