36th Annual Institute on Research and Statistics

The 36th Annual Institute on Research and Statistics will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) Union Building. This daylong event is co-sponsored by

and features diverse presentations of interest to statistics practitioners and researchers of all levels of expertise.  This is an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues and learn more about statistical methods, applications, and research projects in the Sacramento area. We invite you to propose a presentation or discussion topic to share research experiences.

Ø Registration Form: The $40.00 registration fee (which is $35 if your payment is received by May 4, 2015) includes admission to all sessions, parking, continental breakfast, lunch and a one-year membership in the SSA. All events will take place at the University Union on the campus of CSUS. We will accommodate all walk-in registrations (in Redwood Room) if you are not able to mail your completed registration form and payment by Friday, May 15.  For more information regarding parking (permits) and campus maps, please visit the SSA website or check your e-mails if you are on the SSA e-mail list. Ø Parking: All the meeting activities are scheduled in the Union Building (it is marked in the map below) at California State University, Sacramento. The registration and continental breakfast starts at 8 am in Redwood Room (in the first floor). When you enter the campus (from J-street entrance), please follow the route indicated on the map to get to the Hornet Bookstore, then (if you don’t have a parking permit yet) park your car temporarily in one of the 30-minute or 60-minute parking spaces there, visit the registration desk in Redwood Room to get your parking ticket, and finally park your car in any parking lot or parking structure that is designated for students or faculty/staff. The closest locations are Faculty/Staff Lot 4 (right next to your temporary location), Lot 6 and Parking Structure II.

Short Course: An Introduction to Biostatistics through a Case Study

The Sacramento Statistical Association offered a short course presented by Dr. Farzaneh Tabnak, a Research Scientist Supervisor at the California Department of Health Services (DHS), on November 3, 2005. The professional development opportunity provided an introduction to biostatistics through a case study, including analyses/interpretation using SAS software. Take a look at the Abstract.

Short Course on Logistic Regression

Dr. Alan Fenech presented a short course on logistic regression on March 7, 2005. Dr. Fenech is currently an Emeritus Professor of Statistics at UC Davis. This professional development opportunity provided an overview of the logistic regression model and associated statistical inference techniques, featuring examples of the application of logistic regression to data.Course Description.
