Introducing a lightweight version of R Markdown

Abstract
R Markdown (rmarkdown.rstudio.com) is a powerful document format based on Pandoc and knitr. It has a rich ecosystem to create many types of applications, such as reports, articles, books, websites, and presentations, etc. In this talk, I'll introduce a different implementation of R Markdown, which doesn't require Pandoc but is based on the markdown package instead. It has fewer features, and is much more lightweight. I'll also demo some useful applications.
