Practice Award

PRACTICE AWARD

This Award is established to recognize local statisticians who have made outstanding contributions to statistical practice in all areas of applications. Nominees should have an established career in the greater Philadelphia area for at least five years. The nominees should have demonstrated dedication to solutions or improvements over existing approaches and had an impact or potential impact on real-world practice. This award will be given to a maximum of one recipient per year. Nominees with demonstrated contributions to the ASA Philadelphia Chapter and Chapter activities are favorably reviewed. Self-nomination is allowed.



The award recipient will be chosen based upon the following criteria:
  • Outstanding accomplishments in statistical applications with an impact or potential impact on practice in their field of application.
  • Significant impact in their field of application by their activity
  • Letters of support from individuals who can speak to the statistical impact or subject area impact

A complete nomination package will include:
  • A nomination letter up to four pages addressing the nominee’s outstanding accomplishments in statistical applications with an impact or potential impact in their field
  • The nominee's resume or curriculum vita.
  • Between two and four additional supporting letters from individuals in both statistics and subject areas. Each letter should be no longer than two pages.
  • (Optional) Reports or peer-reviewed publications demonstrating how the nominee’s work addressed a relevant real-world problem.  


The complete nomination package should be emailed to the ASA Philadelphia Chapter at amstatphiladelphia@gmail.com no later than the announced deadline, usually in early January. Please indicate in the email subject line “ASA Philadelphia Chapter Practice Award nomination”.
