    For those of you attending JMM this year in Washington, DC, please consider signing up for the congressional visits day being organized by the American Mathematical Society: https://jointmathematicsmeetings.org/meetings/national/jmm2026/hill-visits. As described on their website,

    On Thursday, January 8, 2026, mathematical professional societies are joining together on Capitol Hill for a unique opportunity to meet with congressional offices and communicate the importance of the mathematical sciences! All JMM attendees are invited to participate - no prior experience needed. You'll receive training, briefing materials, and group meeting assignments to ensure you are prepared and feel confident.

    Let me remind any JMM attendees to consider the Congressional Visits day on January 8. They so far have 168 registrants representing 38 states. See attached map. This is a great opportunity to meet with with the staff for your elected federal delegation and partner with fellow mathematical scientists.
