We invite you to participate in our upcoming webinar that will focus on conducting a successful job search and negotiating your best offer. This webinar is free to SCT members and non-members.
Session Overview and Structure:
This presentation provides a strategic roadmap for job seekers at all career stages, outlining how to effectively search for opportunities and secure the best possible job offer.
The process begins with evaluating your career goals-understanding your ultimate objective, your current position relative to that goal, and identifying the skills or interim steps needed to progress.
Next, it explores the role of recruiters: entry-level candidates should not rely heavily on recruiters, while mid-career professionals may benefit from knowledgeable recruiters. For senior-level professionals, maintaining relationships with multiple recruiters is highly recommended.
Job seekers will be advised to search for opportunities across multiple channels, including company websites, automated job searches, and recruiting firms (both contingent and retained). The presentation will also emphasize five essential steps for successful interviewing which include:
1. Scheduling and Information Gathering – Be flexible, ask questions, and research the company and interviewer.
2. Set-Up – Ensure video/audio functionality, choose appropriate attire, and plan logistics for on-site interviews.
3. Preparation – Review your resume, practice answers using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method, and prepare thoughtful questions.
4. Interview – Focus on clear communication and professionalism.
5. Follow-Up – Always send a thank-you email and inquire about the next steps in the hiring process.
Finally, the session will outline the key stages of offer negotiation, empowering candidates to confidently advocate for their value and secure a competitive compensation package.
This webinar will equip job seekers with the tools needed for a focused, effective job search and a successful outcome.
