    Dear ASA Colleagues,

Statisticians and data scientists who work in collaborative or multidisciplinary settings have unique roles and job responsibilities that are usually a blend of technical duties and domain-specific duties, among other things. However, often times, there is a lack of appreciation for the enormous responsibilities and expectations on statisticians/data scientists, who typically work on multiple projects, in multidisciplinary teams, resulting in overwhelming workload that impacts their work-life wellness.

We are conducting a study to understand the perceptions and experiences of statisticians and data scientists (who work in collaborative teams or multidisciplinary settings) about work-life balance. We hope that findings from this study will inform the development of educational workshops and resources for trainees and practicing statisticians/data scientists to support their work-life wellness when working collaborative environments.
