    [Apologies for Cross Posting]

One final reminder as the May 1 deadline approaches.

On behalf of Government Statistics Section, Social Statistics Section, and the WJSS committee, I am pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2024 Wray Jackson Smith Scholarship is open through May 1, 2024.  This scholarship was established in memory of a founding member of the Government Statistics Section, and it is intended to encourage young statisticians to consider a career in government service.  The award provides funding of $1,000 to be used in ways that will advance the recipient's exposure and experience with the application of statistics to problems relevant to any level of government.

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of education. Membership in the GSS, SSS, or the ASA is not required. Applicants are asked to submit a proposal for the activity to be funded, complete an application form, and provide two letters of recommendation.

To download application materials, learn more about the scholarship's namesake and history, and view the list of past recipients, please visit: https://community.amstat.org/governmentstatisticssection/awards/wrayjacksonsmithschol

Questions and completed materials should be directed to the WJSS committee chair at nathan.b.cruze@nasa.gov by May 1, 2024.
