The recently started tariff war that President Trump has launched, has been justified as an effort to foster the reshoring of the American industrial base. Reshoring, by itself, is a complex and challenging problem. It was studied several years ago, under my guidance, by a group of Syracuse University's Quality Engineering graduate course students, using Six Sigma and Lean approaches.
