What is DWMP 2026?

The 2026 Diversity Workshop and Mentoring Program brings historically-underrepresented BIPOC (African/African-American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American) graduate and undergraduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and junior professionals together with senior-level statisticians and faculty in academia, government, and the private sector in a structured program at the annual Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM). This year, Dr. Prince Allotey and Dr. Darius McDaniel are serving as the co-chairs of the organizing committee.

When is DWMP 2026?

August 2 to 5, 2026

Where is DWMP 2026?

Boston, Massachusetts

What is the DWMP 2026 program?

The program schedule booklet will be available here, when it is ready. Please take a look at last year's schedule to get a sense of the program.

How can I participate in DWMP 2026?

If you are a student or early in your career, there are two ways you can participate as described below. If you are more advanced in your career, you can participate as a mentor as described below.

Are you searching for a mentor and do you want to attend DWMP 2026?

If you are a student or early in your career, you are searching for a mentor to help you advance in your career (in whatever way you need), and you want to attend DWMP 2026, you can submit this form (coming soon) by May 15.

We will review your application and determine if we can match you with a mentor who can support your needs. If we can match you with a mentor, we will notify you by email. If we cannot match you with a mentor, you will automatically be considered for attending the program, and we will notify you about this by email.

Do you just want to attend DWMP 2026?

If you are a student or early in your career, you are NOT searching for a mentor to help you advance in your career, and you want to attend DWMP 2026, you can submit this application (coming soon) by June 30.

We will review your application, and we will notify you of the outcome by email.

Do you want to be a mentor?

If you are advanced in your career, you can participate by being a mentor by submitting this application (coming soon) by July 15.

While we do not require mentors to attend DWMP or JSM, we strongly encourage you to do so in order to meet your mentee(s) in person.

What is JSM? How is DWMP 2026 related?

The Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) is a conference hosted through the coordination of several professional statistics societies.  The Diversity Workshop and Mentoring Program (DWMP) is a separate program that is held at the same time and location as JSM, and we do our best to avoid scheduling DWMP events at the same time as JSM events. You do not need to participate in JSM in order to participate in DWMP.

Specifically,

  • You do not need to register for JSM to be part of DWMP.
  • You do not need to attend any JSM events in order to attend DWMP programming.

How can I get funds to support my travel to, and attendance of, DWMP 2026?

For students and early-career individuals, we will do our best to provide you with funds (either we pay directly or we will reimburse you) to either cover some or all of your costs for attending DWMP 2026. We also include registration for the Joint Statistical Meeting, which is held in parallel with our program.

If you submit an application (either for attendance only, or for being a mentee and attending), you will automatically be considered for funding. We prioritize funding individuals who are accepted as mentees into the program.
