What is DMP 2025?

The 2025 Diversity Mentoring Program brings historically-underrepresented BIPOC (African/African-American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American) graduate and undergraduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and junior professionals together with senior-level statisticians and faculty in academia, government, and the private sector in a structured program at the annual Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM). This year Dr. Prince Allotey is serving as the chair of the organizing committee.

When is DMP 2025?

August 3 to 6, 2025

Where is DMP 2025?

Nashville, Tennessee

What is the DMP 2025 program?

We are still creating this year's program. You can look at last year's program for a preview.

How can I participate in DMP 2025?

If you are a student or early in your career, there are two ways you can participate as described below. If you are more advanced in your career, you can participate as a mentor as described below.

Are you searching for a mentor and do you want to attend DMP 2025?

If you are a student or early in your career, you are searching for a mentor to help you advance in your career (in whatever way you need), and you want to attend DMP 2025, you can submit this application: (coming soon).

We will review your application and determine if we can match you with a mentor who can support your needs. If we can match you with a mentor, we will notify you by email. If we cannot match you with a mentor, you will automatically be considered for attending the program, and we will notify you about this by email.

Do you just want to attend DMP 2025?

If you are a student or early in your career, you are NOT searching for a mentor to help you advance in your career, and you want to attend DMP 2025, you can submit this application: (coming soon).

We will review your application, and we will notify you of the outcome by email.

Do you want to be a mentor?

If you are advanced in your career, you can participate by being a mentor by submitting this application: (coming soon).

While we do not require mentors to attend DMP or JSM, we strongly encourage you to do so in order to meet your mentee in person.

What is JSM? How is DMP 2025 related?

The Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) is a conference hosted through the coordination of several professional statistics societies.  The Diversity Mentoring Program (DMP) is a separate program that is held at the same time and location as JSM, and we do our best to avoid scheduling DMP events at the same time as JSM events. You do not need to participate in JSM in order to participate in DMP.

Specifically,

  • You do not need to register for JSM to be part of DMP.
  • You do not need to attend any JSM events in order to attend DMP programming.

How can I get funds to support my travel to, and attendance of, DMP 2025?

For students and early-career individuals, we will do our best to provide you with funds (either we pay directly or we will reimburse you) to either cover some or all of your costs for attending DMP 2025. We also include registration for the Joint Statistical Meeting, which is held in parallel with our program.

If you submit an application (either for attendance only, or for being a mentee and attending), you will automatically be considered for funding. We prioritize funding individuals who are accepted as mentees into the program.

Who do I contact if I have questions?
